The day day day after

The fasting month has ended, muslims all over celebrated the eid a few days ago. In Malaysia the celebrations will continue for many more days to come. As if to 'compensate' for the fasting month!

It would be great if we could control our over eating during this time, but alas it is much easier said than done (me included!!). More often than not we stuff ourselves to the brim only to regret it later but not to learn from it. The cycle continues.

Illnesses run amok, blood sugar levels, uric acid levels, cholesterol levels and what have you shoot through the roof. Restraint is the key word. Control our food intake and much else will fall into place.

Eat in moderation, dont eat too often, drink plain water. Make all effort to keep your weight loss, dont lose what you have already lost!

Ah.... and the haze. Its in remission for now at least. Your guess is as good as mine when it will flare up again.

Have a pleasent and peaceful festive season. May God's guidance and mercy shower on us always. We pray for patience in in all our endearvours, a day at a time.

Haze haze go away

Every year the haze envelopes us. We have tolerated this for far too long. There seems to be lack of will with the powers that be to find a permenant solution to this recurring health hazard. Every time the haze returns, we hear the same old rethoric. But at the end of the day little is done and even less achived.

I have seen a upsurge of medical ailments since the onset of the haze. I have had atshma patients who have been free from excercebations of asthma for almost a year, coming with acute and sometimes severe asthma attacks. The numbers of patients with eye irritation has risen considerably and so has throat irritation.

Drinking lots of water and staying indoors may help. In addition we try some simple home remedies.

For persistent and irritating cough, I find fresh ginger juice with honey rather helpful. I usually advice patients to extract the juice from 2cm size ginger and add 2 teaspoons of honey. Add a bit of warn water to make about 1/3 of cup and take it daily for 2 to 3 days. Another 'recipe' one can try is to add 2 teaspoons of honey and 1/2 teaspoon of tumeric powder to a cup of warm fresh milk.

Eye itch may be resolved by washing the eye with warm salt water. But do remember to only use a pinch of salt. Gurgling with salt water can help reduce throat irritation.

You don't find these remedies in medical books. I call them "My mother in law's remedy".

Of course my family and I have tried them, they are after all from my mother in law! And it has worked, Alhamdulillah.

Hopefully some benefit is gained.

Till the my next entry, have a nice day.

May the guidance and blessing from God continue to shower on us all in the final third of Ramadan.

A day at a time

The title most aptly describes my attempt in dabbling in the world of IT. Theres much that can be shared in our daily lives amongst ourselves. Hopefully these life experiences will encourage us and assist us to become better persons. Better people in our dealings with Almighty God, with our family and friends, with ourselves and with our fellow man.

There are many things which are important to us. Our physical and mental well being must surely be among the most important things we require and endeavour to maintain.

There is much we can do to improve our physical and mental health. And conversely there is also much we should not do.

Life is after all too short to waste away. Alot of frustration that comes with life today, can really be avoided, if only we have a proper view and perpesctive of things.

Take life a day at a time, relax and enjoy the little things in life.
